The Massachusetts Pollinator Network is asking for our help advocating for important reforms in Washington and on Beacon Hill that will protect pollinators and ecosystem health. Through the Action Network they have made it easy to learn about these issues and let your legislators know you’d like their support on important legislation. As of late September 2023, Watertown still needs our elected representatives to co-sponsor these bills.
Two federal bills are the Saving America’s Pollinators Act (SAPA) and the creation of USDA pollinator-friendly plant labels that can be used to identify native plants raised without pesticides. Please ask Representatives Clark and Auchinloss to support SAPA. Please ask Senators Warren and Markey to support the USDA labels.
Two action items for Massachusetts are a bill (H.742) that requires that pesticide applicators using neonicotinoids obtain the landowner’s written consent affirming that he/she understands and authorizes their use, and a suite of important additional pesticide reform bills. Please ask State Representative Steve Owens and State Senator Will Brownsberger to support these bills.
Join the growing chorus of those demanding better protection for the pollinators so critical to our food supply, our native ecosystems, and our climate resiliency. It only takes a few moments to add your name now.
Thank you!
