Watertown Faces Climate Change

People Power

Members of Watertown Faces Climate Change worked tirelessly, with guidance from 350 Mass Action, during 2019 and 2020, to get the Massachusetts State Legislature to pass a comprehensive climate bill.  We were thrilled when a bill, however imperfect, emerged from the conference committee in the final days of the 2020 session. A week later, we were disappointed when the Governor vetoed the bill. Together with 350 Mass Action, the Environmental League of Massachusetts, and other environmental organizations, we will support the effort of the legislative leadership to re-introduce the bill in early 2021.

In addition, Watertown collected enough signatures for ballot initiatives to go on the November 2021 ballot supporting 100% renewable energy in MA by 2040 and calling for transparency in committee deliberations, when votes are taken on important bills with a total lack of transparency.
