The Great Gaza March of Return

The Great Gaza March

The Great Gaza March of Return began in the Gaza Strip on Land Day, March 30, 2018 when 30,000 Palestinians marched in an attempt to return home to the villages they were forced to flee 70 years ago. During the past year, Israeli Army snipers have killed 267 protesters, including 35 children, medics, and journalists. Since the start of the peaceful demonstration over 6,500 marchers have been seriously injured.

One year later on March 30, 2019 over 40,000 people came to the fence separating Gaza from Israel to commemorate the one-year anniversary since the start of the March. The marchers are still seeking the return of their land.

Newton Dialogues on Peace and War invites to you attend a House Meeting about the situation in Gaza which has been very poorly reported by American news media. There will be a potluck dinner followed by a showing of a short film, “The Man Behind Gaza’s Great March of Return” about the origins of the March. After the film there will be a short talk presented by Dr. Hani Murad, who has spent 15 years as a U.N. staff ombudsman while living in Jerusalem and Beirut, Lebanon. Dr. Murad’s talk will be followed by discussion.

The meeting will take place on SUNDAY May 19, 6:00PM (potluck) 7:00PM (program) at a home in Newton – Reply to this email or email to NewtonDialogues@gmail.com for directions. (Space is limited)
