Watertown Citizens is excited about participating in a statewide coalition to commemorate the 75 anniversary of the first use of atomic weapons at the bombing of the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. As the U.S. is planning to spend $1.7 billion - imagine how much more we would be prepared to address COVI-19 if this money had been spent to strengthen our public health infrastructure - there is no better time to raise the issue of unneeded nuclear weapons that are used to threaten nuclear and non-nuclear countries and could lead to mass destruction by human error. Watertown Citizens will join Back from the Brink, Massachusetts Peace Action, Campaign for Peace, Disarmament and Common Security, Union of Concerned Scientist, and groups from around the world in planning a series of events prior to and during August 6 - 9. Ideas are already percolating and we need more help to make Watertown Citizens' contribution successful.
Please join us for one in a series of zoom meetings as members of an Ad Hoc 75th Anniversary Working Group. The first zoom meeting will take place on Wednesday, June 24 at from 7:00 - 9:00 PM. Here is the information:
