Hi Folks,

I have been making some contacts based on our draft program ideas and
thought I would share them with you.

1) I have been in communication with Jeremy Love at BftB about a
petition to Clark around HRes 77 and a possible speaker (woman) for a kick
off program. He has been very helpful. I am going to take a crack at
drafting a petition using the many resources they have on their website and
run by you and Jeremy. He also suggested that we try to get a meeting with
Katherine Clark (besides gathering signatures) as he is trying to get as
many co-sponsors of HRes 77 as possible and as soon as possible. He is
suggesting Denise Duffield as a possible speaker for a program. She is
from CA and works with PSR and BftB. *Can you all consider a program in
the fall - September, October or November?*

2) I have been in touch with Gary Butterfield from Veterans for Peace to
discuss the project they have on militarism and climate change (Check out
VFP Natl Project Climate Crisis & Militarism:
https://www.veteransforpeace.org/take-action/climatecrisis). I am speaking
to him next week. I thought about this as the topic for the April Monthly
Meeting, but it may be too soon and the CC is discussing a program with
Charlie Beitrose of Watertown News. We would want to build such a program
together with our WFCC working group, reach out to other local and
statewide climate groups and connect with the local VFP group, which is
very active. *Again, when do you think we might do such a program?*

3) Related to this, I have reached out to Dr. Neta Crawford who has been
speaking about climate and militarism. She is the director of The Cost of
War Project at Brown University and the author of a recent book, "The
Pentagon, Climate Change, and War". I thought she was in the States, but
she may be at Oxford. I have not heard back from her, which based on my
experience with her, is not unusual. You have to push her a bit!

4) Finally, I know Susan is looking into a program on P/I. I sent you all
an announcement of the showing of the movie, "Boycott" that was showing
yesterday, 3/21. I wonder if anyone had a chance to see it? It might be
great to have an in-person program at the Library showing this film and a
couple of local speakers talking about BDS, maybe from Jewish Voice for
Peace. Here is the announcement I sent:

*United for Peace & Justice is delighted to spread the word that the
Fellowship of Reconciliation (FOR-USA), is hosting a virtual screening of
the acclaimed new documentary Boycott on Tuesday, March 21st at 4:00 pm
eastern time. Following the virtual screening, FOR-USA Executive Director
Ariel Gold will host a live Q&A with the film’s Director Julia
Bacha. https://bit.ly/BOYCOTT32123

traces
the impact of state legislation designed to penalize individuals and
companies that choose to boycott Israel due to its human rights record. A
legal thriller with “accidental plaintiffs” at the center of the
story, Boycott is a bracing look at the far-reaching implications of
anti-boycott legislation and an inspiring tale of everyday Americans
standing up to protect our rights in an age of shifting politics and
threats to freedom of speech. Indeed, the legal debates highlighted by this
new film reached the U.S. Supreme Court last month, which on Feb. 21st
refused to hear arguments on these threats to our
constitutionally-protected free speech rights.Click here to RSVP.

*I hope we can communicate via email and not wait until we meet in April to
move on some of these ideas. I know we are a very small group, but let's
give it a try.*
*Thanks,*
*Tony*
