Medea Benjamin, who played important roles in the Vienna Peace Summit got
to her laptop keyboard more quickly that I could. She has written an
excellent summary of the successful conference and its Declaration which
will inspire action this fall for a ceasefire and negotiations around the

In the course of the week, I will prepare a more detailed account of the
many, and politically diverse, speeches given there, as well as the
international political machinations that sought to prevent the conference
from being able to convene. With dedication and perseverance, those
challenges were overcome.
