Hi Folks,

I hope you are enjoying Saturday. I have attached the draft agenda for the
meeting. PLEASE READ IT OVER BEFORE THE MEETING and if you have any
questions, please let me know.
I have also pasted it in this email in case you have any trouble with the
attachments.

Finally, there are two other attachments

1) A draft petition on R. Res. 77 ( will be sending it to BfTB also after
your comments)
2) An early piece on the Cost of the Ukraine War from a friend who thinks
such information should be included in any written statement we might do in
the future.

Tony

*5) Back from The Brink – 20 Minutes – Tony*

Made contact with* Jeremy* *Love, National Organize*r for Back from the
Brink about a petition and possible program. No petition so I drafted one,
attached, and will share with him. He suggested,

Denise Duffield (BftB & PSR-LA) as I was suggesting a woman.

He also connected me with the Boston-Hub of BftB, Anna Linakis, ED of
Physicians for Social Responsibility – Boston who would be willing to
co-sponsor an event.

a) Jeremy suggested a meeting with Clark because they want to move faster
to get co-sponsor. We could see if we could get a meeting on Wednesday,
April 19 which is the BftB’s National Call-In Day

https://preventnuclearwar.org/hres77-callinday-2023/

b) Get petition approved and do a couple of weekends of signature gathering
at the post office , library, etc.

c) Keep Calling Markey to be introduce the resolution in the Senate –

*PROPOSAL *– Program with Denise Duffield in September, again on our
monthly meeting or WC monthly meeting co-sponsored with Boston Hub and
MAPA’ Nuclear Disarmament Working Group. Keep getting signatures until
that date.

*6) Military Budget and the Militarization of our Police Force – 10 Minutes
– Tony*

I contacted the Democratic Progressive Caucus Center (not affiliated with
the Democratic Progressive Caucus) about a study they recently completed
“The Bloated Pentagon Budget and the Militarization of Law Enforcement.”
Had a good exchange with Mariam Malik, Foreign Policy Associate - c
502-802-3025. My thought was a co-sponsored zoom program with WCBL. I had
a good email exchange with her and we were supposed to set up at zoom but
nothing so far. However this may be best since after I reached out to the
working group Deborah reminded me that they might be working with the
police and such a program, even focused on the larger issue and bringing
MAPA’s social justice working group, might hinder their efforts to play a
positive role in the hiring of the new police chief. So we should back off
for now.

*6) Review of Decisions and Assigned Tasks – 10 Minutes*
