Here is an invite to the film Boycott. I suggest we view it ourselves to see if we want to present it later this spring.

| About the Film
Boycott follows a news publisher, an attorney, and a speech therapist, who, when forced to choose between their jobs and their political beliefs, launch legal battles that expose an attack on freedom of speech across America. The film traces the impact of legislation passed in 34 states designed to penalize individuals and companies that choose to boycott Israel due to its human rights record. Boycotts have long been a tool used by Americans rallying for social and political change, from farmworkers to civil rights leaders to anti-apartheid activists. When passed, these bills take such a fundamental freedom away.
The story chronicled in Boycott is becoming increasingly urgent. In 2021, state legislators began to introduce copycat bills inspired by the Israel-focused anti-boycott bills, taking aim at boycotts of the fossil fuels and firearms industries. Most recently, legislators modified the bill once more to target those organizing for transgender peoples' rights, abortion access, and workplace equity. Since the start of the year, over 30 copycat bills have been introduced in state legislatures across the country. |

Our upcoming visual “The Rise of Anti-Boycott Laws in the U.S.” is the second in our ongoing series on the “system of silencing” enacted against advocates for Palestinian freedom. We hope you’ll join us to learn more about anti-boycott laws in the U.S. and their wider implications on the right to voice dissent.
In solidarity,The VP team, |
